It's a new start here at UselessPython. The old stuff just won't cut it anymore. The old stuff is still available for those looking for inspiration, but this new page is in need of a good stuffing.

And that's where you come in.

We, the administration of UselessPython are looking for some new gauntlets to lay down for the masses. Try to keep submissions in the realm of reality: recoding Google is JUST beyond the scope of our little useless practice here.

Python Challenges

Write a new delimited text parser similar to the CSV module. Nifty features would include:

Unicode Support

Accept any string as a separator, not just one character

Accept any tuple separator (not just linefeed).

Monkey Emulation: We all know about that room full of an infinite monkeys and that script for hamlet they managed to write. It probably took them a while... But how long, exactly? Python would make a fairly good monkey emulator. And if you set a lower threshold, for instance just the line, "Alas, poor Yorick, I knew him, Horatio" - and ignore punctuation - it would even be do-able.
